    Credentials Dr. Khaled A. Taki, FBC Founder and Senior Consultant

    Dr. Khaled Taki, carries with him an extensive experience in the business private sector and in the field of management, marketing, communications, organization human resources, and Franchising — both internationally and at local scene in the Middle East and the Arab world. His ability to master three languages, Spanish, English and Arabic offers a diverse selection of services to both the franchisee and franchisor. Dr Khalid, as he is known to most, is of Arab origin, both parents are Lebanese, he was educated in Lebanon at the IC , and completed his higher education yielding Bachelors Degree in Business and Human Resources at the University of San Francisco in California–USA, his Masters Degree in Public Administration at the American University of Beirut and his doctorate degree in Public Administration at the University of Summer in the United Kingdom. He is also an author of many books, academic, biographical and fiction, and writes regularly for magazines presently he is completing a book entitled “Franchising in the Arab world, a promising perspective” due to be published late 2010.

    Dr. Taki based in Beirut, has been involved in a franchise campaign for the Arab World since 2005. He is a firm believer that franchising will continue to grow in the Arab world and thus in 2007 he launched a vigorous lobby campaign to pass the first legislative law which would cover franchising in particular in the Arab world.

    Dr. Khaled Taki, Senior Consultant and founder of FBC Beirut, began giving seminars in the early 80's and is a regular contributor to many publications, newspapers and magazines including Franexcel that is based in Dubai, Hospitality News Lebanon . His speaking engagements have brought him in touch with different organizations, business clubs, private companies, banks, educational institutions, various government agencies such as the Departments of Trade and Industry (DTI), Human Resources Funds (HRF), Training Trade Centers and different cooperatives.

    He has also given talks in many cities and provinces of the Arab World and he welcomes invitations by interested parties (companies, schools, associations and other government agencies) to speak about franchising, he is known for his ability to interact with the audience and unique ability to carry on lectures and seminars simultaneously in both in English and Arabic languages when a mix audience is in attendance.

    Dr. Khaled Taki is a member of the college of experts at the Lebanese Franchise Association.

    Re: F B C Franchise Development Package for Lebanese Restaurants.

    Franchising :

    During the past three years 2003 - 2005, there has been a considerable rising interest in first class Lebanese Restaurants, by Arab Gulf Investors wishing to open a branch (Franchise) in Gulf cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi (UAE), Muscat (Oman), Manama (Bahrain), Doha (Qatar), Kuwait City (Kuwait), Jeddah, Riyadh (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

    Franchising has been practiced by companies like McDonald's and Burger King since the mid 1950s, and has now reached the Middle East and Lebanon. There are many Lebanese Restaurants / Cafés who have successfully franchised. (See enclosure).

    In the past, a Lebanese restaurant would enter into a partnership or joint venture with his Arab Gulf counterpart that has now changed giving way to the Franchising international formula.
    The difference is that in Franchising, the Lebanese restaurant owner (known as the Franchisor) does NOT invest any money, but rather agrees to grant a Master Franchise, in exchange for receiving financial compensation by contributing the name, menu, management and support for the identical branch restaurant to be opened by the Arab Gulf investor (known as the Franchisee), for a period of 10 years in exchange for a one time Master Fee payment and a small percentage of the Gross Sales (5-7%).

    The Arab Gulf Investor (known as the Franchisee) will be making a 10 year investment in an exact copy of the Lebanese restaurant, fully equipped, staffed and
    ready to operate.

    At F B C, we provide a complete and comprehensive Franchise Development Package, which prepares the Lebanese restaurant to become a Franchisor. The Franchise Package is bilingual Arabic and English, it is composed of a series of letters, documents, legal contracts and manuals, as well as offering 25 sessions, 2 hours each, of Franchisor coaching tuition covering the areas listed bellow, over a period of 2-3 months.

    1. F B C trains and assists the Franchisor in preparing the Letter of Response to any present and future Inquiries regarding a franchise.

    2. F B C prepares the Franchisor's Concept and Criteria for granting a franchise. Including the size, location, personnel, and other aspects related to the ideal branch

    3. F B C assists the Franchisor in Pricing the Franchise in the Arab World, particularly in the Arab Gulf based on a turnover, profit and loss analysis. (Plus
    Advise of \n registration of Trade Mark both in Lebanon and in the world.)

    4. F B C trains the Franchisor in understanding the Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC) and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which are agreed upon prior to the Franchise Agreement (Legal International Aspect)

    5. F B C trains the Franchisor in understanding the Franchise Agreement, which is available in both the English & Arabic Languages. Legal International Aspect)

    6. F B C develops and prepares the Franchisor's Operating Manual to be used by the franchise (How to run the identical branch?).

    7. F B C develops and prepares the Franchisor's step-by-step Training Manual to be used by the franchisee (How to train those who will run the branch?)

    7a. OPTIONAL: In the case of F & B Restaurants, FBC develops and prepares the Menu and Preparation Manual inclusive of ingredients, weights and methods ( How to prepare the Menu ? )
